Fransham is situated in the Breckland District of Norfolk and covers an area of 12.14 km2 (4.69 sq mi), consisting the villages of Great and Little Fransham, has an estimated population of 430 as of 2007[2]. It lies 6 miles east from Swaffham and 6.5 miles west of Dereham.
The local pub in Little Fransham, the Canary and Linnet, is just off the A47. Great Fransham had a public house called Chequers which is now a private dwelling.
Great Fransham is served by All Saints church[3] and Little Fransham by St.Marys[4] both in the Benefice of Great Dunham [5].
There is a commercially working forge with public demonstrations available.
The unusual Fransham Obelisk raised in the memory of Lord Nelson is actually just in Little Dunham.
